Overview / Responsibilities

Wood's Environment & Infrastructure Solutions division is seeking a Junior Water Resources Engineer to join our growing Water Resources Engineering team in Calgary. We are seeking a motivated candidate who is a self-starter, is focussed on delivering, and has strong technical skills. This position is targeted towards a recent graduate of a recognized engineering program with specialization in water resources and/or structural engineering. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and gain experience in a variety of water resources engineering projects, including hydraulic structures, water management, hydrology and hydraulics, and ranging from initial design through construction. The successful candidate will work in a team environment with the support of experienced senior technical staff and will bring strengths in oral and written communication.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical design and construction support to senior water resources engineers
  • Perform design calculations and document the design process for water resources project.
  • Assist with the preparation of tender documents and construction specifications
  • Prepare correspondence and reports to support project deliverables
  • Perform Contract Administration tasks, including contractor interaction, construction inspection and recording site meetings, which requires site visits, occasional overtime and some weekend work
  • Communicate and work with other project team members

Skills / Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Civil Engineering is an asset, with emphasis on water based engineering;
  • Motivated to build their career with a growing water resources engineering design team
  • Registered with or eligible for registration as an EIT with APEGA;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Willingness to take ownership of tasks and focus on delivering assignments on time and within budget
  • Driver’s licence
  • Must be able to legally entitled to work in Canada at time of application
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends if necessary
