Overview / Responsibilities

Wood's Mining and Minerals business has an opportunity available for Piping Designers. Reporting to the Office Engineering Manager, this position is located in our Oakville, ON office and will be responsible for providing piping design support on a major and minor EPC/EPCM projects. The successful candidate must be located within a reasonable commute to the Oakville, ON office. Key Responsibilities

  • Providing design and technical support for the layout, design, supporting and specification of piping and components for mining/industrial plants and related infrastructure
  • Supporting Senior piping designers with layout and modeling, including material take-offs for industrial and mining plants
  • Designing and drafting of piping and auxiliary components in 2D and 3D drawing environments
  • Reviewing project documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy
  • Managing schedule and budget within assigned scope. Including identification of scope change
  • Capable of working independently on defined tasks
  • Establishing good working relationships and communication with area leads, department managers, clients and other team members to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design

Skills / Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in piping design of industrial and mining plants
  • College Technician or Technology Diploma in a Relevant Discipline
  • Proven experience with AutoCAD 2010/2012 and excellent knowledge of 3D design/drafting
  • PDMS experience is a required
  • Experience with International Piping design is an asset
  • Site experience is an asset
  • SmartPlant (SP3D) is an asset
