Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking an Intermediate Marine/Structural Engineer to join out Structural Engineering Group. The position is open in our Dartmouth office. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of marine projects for both public and private sector clients across Canada.

 

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a Senior Marine/ Structural Engineer and will be responsible for:

  • Development of conceptual, general arrangements and detailed designs associated with marine facilities
  • Preparation of technical documents, design calculations, and specifications
  • Preparation of details, coordination of engineering drawings, and liaison with other engineering disciplines and clients
  • Preparation of Tender documents, assistance during Tender, and inspection during Construction

Skills / Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Experience in Marine / Structural engineering analysis, evaluation, design and report preparation
  • A proven track record designing marine terminals
  • 10 years of experience in structural engineering with minimum 5 years’ experience as Marine Engineer in planning and designing marine terminals
  • Strong technical and data analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of common structural engineering software such as STAAD, SAP
  • Excellent communication skills, team player able to work in a diversified and demanding environment

The position may require periodic fieldwork. As a result, offers of employment are contingent upon candidates being able to physically undertake site visits and site inspections of marine structures.
