Overview / Responsibilities

Wood perform consulting and EPCM services for many of Canada’s gas processing, power generation, and power distribution companies.


Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Designer. Reporting to the Electrical, Transmission & Distribution Department Manager, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. Key Responsibilities


Work as part of a team delivering construction design packages for overhead and underground distribution projects

Skills / Qualifications

  • A diploma from a recognized Electrical technology program is preferred but not required
  • Exposure to overhead and underground distribution systems (4-25kV)
  • Exposure to utility and industrial standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Knowledge of GIS based applications, such as GE Smallworld, ArcFM
  • Knowledge of drafting tools, such as, AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation would be an advantage
  • Strong computer design skills, the ability new software packages and apply on the job training
  • A strong work ethic
  • A passion for details
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work in design teams and manage time effectively between multiple projects
  • Willingness and initiative to learn the trade
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise initiative when resolving issues and in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual situations
