Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Tax Manager - Canada to be based in our Oakville, Ontario office.



This position will be responsible for the overall tax function of the Canadian Region for Wood, including all tax compliance and tax financial reporting functions and working collaboratively with Wood Tax Department team members, Canadian tax authorities and Wood finance & business partners within the Wood Canadian companies. This position will report directly to the Senior Tax Manager – Asset Support Americas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the accounting and reporting function for all Canadian and certain US reporting entities and branches (reporting at year end, interim, SRP and any other ad hoc forecasting)
  • Direct the execution of all Canadian corporate tax compliance
  • Enforce controls and evidencing the application of controls for SOX purposes
  • Maintain a tax risk register for entities in Canada
  • Participate in the development, execution and maintenance of corporate tax planning strategies.
  • Ensure that the group transfer pricing policy and procedure is being followed for Canadian entities and prepare necessary documentation
  • Provide commercial tax support to the business including new bids/tenders involving cross border contracting
  • Assess the impact of new legislation and flag any changes to the head of tax and any relevant stakeholders
  • Direct a team of Canadian tax professionals
  • Direct tax audits for the Canadian entities
  • Work with the local finance team to ensure efficient and accurate collection of finance data

Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial capacity
  • Must possess a Canadian accounting designation (CA, CPA, CMA)
  • Demonstrated completion of CICA In-depth Tax Course (or relevant International Tax course)
  • Prior experience with Canadian tax planning, maintaining tax risk register and in dealing with Canadian Tax Authorities is required
  • Proven experience managing a team of tax accountants is necessary
  • International tax experience, both inbound/outbound is consider an asset
  • Excellent project management and presentational skills are desired
  • Commercial tax experience preferred (tax on client contracts, etc.)
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
