Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Software Configuration Administrator / Data Manager to be responsible for configuring, developing, deploying, and updating software solutions for clients using a cloud-based Linux-based platform and for ensuring the integrity and availability of company and client data. The Software Configuration Administrator / Data Manager will interact directly with Wood’s Environment & Infrastructure Solutions Met-Ocean team to gather requirements, document specifications and implement solutions in Development, Test and Production environments. We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong interpersonal and analytical skills as well as the ability to translate processes and concepts into real-time applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, develop, deploy and update company applications to help manage and integrate weather forecasting data
  • Implement software solutions in a cloud-based deployment environment
  • Devising and implementing efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects
  • Creating and enforcing policies for effective data management
  • Formulating techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data
  • Provide project-specific technical support to company employees
  • Conduct thorough software testing and adhere to best practices to ensure highest level of quality
  • Create and update knowledgebase articles and other documentation relating to company apps

Skills / Qualifications

Role Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in software development and/or information management
  • 1-3 years’ experience installing and configuring and operating Linux-based software and a good understanding of cloud-based Linux systems
  • Prior experience interfacing with relational database systems and integrating applications manipulating large datasets
  • Knowledge of data management best practices
  • Experience with software development and configuration management best practices
  • Prior experience with programming or scripting languages such as shell scripts, C#, Python or JavaScript
  • Capacity to work efficiently, effectively and independently
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software, programming languages and frameworks
  • Willingness to work as part of a real-time 24/7 (support off-hours as required) team
  • Willingness to obtain certifications in systems administration, software development, and cloud-based computing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in administering Linux servers
  • Experience with Amazon web services
  • Experience with configuring and using Docker images
  • Experience with Agile programming development
  • Experience with ISO quality management systems
