  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently seeking Survey Crew Chiefs to join our Edmonton, AB team.

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    • Surveying of local roads, highways, drainage and bridge surveys for preliminary design and construction layout &construction flagging
    • Candidates must have experience and be successful in the following: establish control, data pickup, construction layout, quantity pickup and calculations, manual drafting of transit notes and processing surveys via computer software
    • Position requires travel throughout central and northern Alberta and willingness to work significant overtime during the construction season
    • Mentor and supervise junior staff

    Skills / Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience with the use of survey instruments and equipment including Trimble GPS, Total Stations and levels
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a survey crew chief
    • Graduate from a survey project, civil engineering, civil tech, or geomatics discipline is mandatory
    • Candidate must have a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license
    • Candidate must possess a strong understanding of coordinate geometry as it relates to construction surveying
    • Strong work ethic and strong attention to detail
    • Must be eligible to work in Canada

    Preferred

    • Experience with Construction surveying for the layout of rural roads and highways would be considered an asset

    Physical Demands

     

    This position is physically demanding and requires long periods of standing/walking through rough terrain in physically demanding and construction environments; therefore, only candidates willing to work in these conditions need apply.
