  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood has an immediate, casual employment opportunity for a Vegetation and Wetland Ecologist in Calgary, AB. The Ecologist must be experienced with western Canada plant communities and plants. The successful candidate should expect to spend time in the field, including work in remote locations.



    • Conducting field surveys for vegetation;
    • Vegetation mapping and air photo interpretation;
    • Conducting wetland assessments under the Alberta Wetland Policy;
    • Conducting impact assessment and mitigation/compensation planning and support. 


    Skills / Qualifications

    • Education: B.Sc. in appropriate discipline and/or advanced degree;
    • Expertise in vegetation assessments;
    • Knowledge and experience with the Alberta Wetland Policy, ABWRET-A and the Alberta Wetland Classification System would be considered an asset;
    • Experience working in the fields of impact assessment, rare plant surveys or wetland delineation would be considered an asset;
    • Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams; and
    • Excellent writing and communication skills.
