  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood perform consulting, and EPCM services for many of Western North Americas Pulp and Paper Mills

     

    Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer, Pulp and Paper. Reporting to the Manager, Forest Industries, this position can be located in our Vancouver, BC or Grande Prairie, AB office. This role has responsibility for providing mechanical and/or process engineering for pulp and paper projects.     Key Responsibilities

    • Providing project management skills including man-hour estimating, budget control and scheduling
    • Providing engineering and technical support for the layout, design, specification and evaluation of mechanical and/or process equipment for industrial plants and related infrastructure
    • Prepare P&ID or P&C documents
    • Preparing sizing calculations for pumps and other industrial equipment
    • Preparing project documents and reviewing those prepared by others for scope, presentation and technical accuracy
    • Leading work groups or project teams with limited supervision
    • Demonstrating effective organizational skills and handling multiple tasks independently, and as part of a team
    • Establishing good working relationships and communication with project management, area leads, department managers, clients and other team members to coordinate and ensure the compatibility of design
    • Supervising and mentoring junior staff, including assigning work and evaluating technical competence

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree from a recognized university with P. Eng. Status in B.C. or AB or eligibility for registration. Registration in the USA is an asset
    • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience with 2 or more years pulp and paper mill or project experience
    • Relevant site maintenance or operations experience is an asset
    • Good communication skills including excellent oral, written and presentation skills for communication with internal team, stakeholders and clients
    • Good planning, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to travel to field locations as required and maintain Class 5 driver license in a good standing
