    Wood currently has an opportunity available for a Logistics Manager / Expediting Lead to join our Mining & Minerals business in Oakville and at our construction project site.  Reporting to the Manager, Procurement and working alongside other team members at the construction site after transitioning from our local office in Oakville, you will have the opportunity to provide support on one of our major projects.     • Assist with input to monthly project reports for construction progress and status of contracts
    • Develop Project Logistics Plan and Procedures
    • Provide tonnage estimates and updates to cargo register
    • Provide shipping duration for the planned modes of transportation
    • Route and arrange transportation of shipments
    • Develop Project Logistics estimate
    • Coordinate transportation for normal loads, special over-sized loads, hazardous and complex international shipments by all modes of transportation
    • Evaluate traffic related proposals such as inland carriers, freight forwarders, export packers, charter shipments, ocean, air, freight rate agreements and custom brokers
    • Perform expediting and/or tracing activities with carriers, packers, and shipping agents
    • Support purchasing with carrier related insurance claims for overage, lost or damaged cargo
    • Audit freight bills
    • Ensure project compliance with all domestic and international regulations related to transportation, import and export
    • Arrange for maritime surveyors
    • Supervise or coordinate ship, barge and charter aircraft loading / discharging
    • Determine requirements for obtaining and administrating export or import licenses of countries through which a shipment will move. Determine and administrate customs and other documentation requirements.
    • Support and administrate logistics services in coordination with buyers and contract administrators

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Minimum 8-10 years of logistics and expediting experience on heavy industrial projects within a construction environment, preferably in remote or international locations.
    • recognized supply chain management certification or equivalent
    • Good understanding of the forwarding, customs clearing and shipping principles, permits, logistics management and supply chain strategies.
    • Good understanding of Standard Procurement Terms and Incoterms 2010 and the relationship these have with head contract.
    • Good understanding of local laws for transport and ability to gather all required information.
    • Ability to manage and coordinate a team and service providers.
    • Knowledge and experience in working in remote locations.
    • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office applications, SharePoint, Electronic Project Management Systems, including data base manipulation
