  • Overview / Responsibilities

    To support and promote our growth while completing various environmental assessments, Wood is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Professional to join our Montreal office. The Intermediate Environmental Professional will report to the Team Lead of Environmental Site Assessment, and will undertake the successful delivery of projects. This is a field and office role, and an excellent opportunity to further career development in a consulting environment. A dedicated and autonomous individual, who enjoys working on a variety of projects will thrive in this environment.  

     

    The Environmental Characterization and Remediation group currently offers a wide range of services, specifically tuned to the clients’ needs. They currently provide environmental services to major clients in the Transportation, Institutional and Industrial/Commercial sectors.

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    • Undertake environmental site assessment studies, Phase I, Phase II and Phase III;
    • Report writing and project–related correspondence
    • Field Work both on-site and supervision of field staff – Including groundwater monitoring and sampling, environmental drilling, soil sampling and logging, test pitting, soil and gas sampling, and remedial field works oversight
    • Field Preparation – Including ordering sampling jars and bottles, organizing field equipment, arranging underground utility locates, and preparation of Health & Safety Plans
    • Coordination with Analytical Laboratories for sampling programs
    • Office duties would include summarizing data collected in the field, evaluation of field and laboratory data, tabulation and evaluation of data, reporting, and analyzing project-specific data
    • Complete personal administration, including record-keeping, correct and timely submission of timesheets, expense reports, etc.
    • Preparation of reports and memos
    • When required, work collaboratively with other departments, and Wood offices on project related work
    • Provide excellent service to clients and a commitment to technical excellence
    • Other duties as assigned

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Three to five years’ experience in the environmental consulting or services industry
    • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or one of the physical or natural sciences
    • Effective leadership and collaboration skills
    • Experience with the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigation and sampling, experimentation, research and documentation and technical report writing
    • Excellent written and spoken French; Bilingualism a strong asset
    • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
    • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently
