    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Junior/Intermediate Environmental Specialist to join our team in Cambridge, ON.


    Under direct supervision of a Senior Manager, the Environment Specialist assists with client compliance programs, reporting and approvals. Performs work on projects of defined scope requiring judgement and initiative for prescribed ECA approvals, EASR, certification programs and/or government reporting programs. Practical knowledge of Ontario Environmental Regulations and best industry practice is mandatory. Exercising judgment and effective written and oral communication skills are key in delivering an effective compliance project to our clients. Tasks will include but not be limited to developing scope and budget for proposals, application documentation, and undertaking predictive modeling software. Frequent use and basic knowledge of AERMOD and drawing software such as AutoCAD is required and it would be desirable to have experience with CadnaA and Aloha software applications. Utilizing Microsoft Office Software and having experience with Project Management methodologies and software will enhance the balance of working both independently as well as integrated into team projects. There will be a balance between on-site/in plant work and office tasks and the candidate should be comfortable interacting with a variety of individuals. The position will have review and oversight of all deliverables by the Senior Manager/Engineer.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Able to coordinate projects, correlate documentation, issue reports, applications and collect information from client as needed
    • Able to conduct modelling independently, from collected data, determine emission rates, compliance limits, emission factors, etc.
    • Able to write reports and prepare documentation/presentations
    • Able to prepare proposals with development of scope and costs, for environmental compliance projects with oversight from Senior Engineer
    • Able to work independently as well as integrated into team(s)
    • Field work (in-plant/on-site) for the collection of operational and site data such as inventory of equipment, emission assessments, documentation collection, monitoring and verification
    • Interaction with clients, client representatives, regulatory authority representatives and multiple discipline team members of Wood
    • Execution of project tasks as assigned
    • Other work as assigned

    Skills / Qualifications


    • College or University training in environmental science/engineering
    • 1-5 years relevant experience working in the field of environmental regulations/compliance services or relevant similar experience


    • Demonstrated experience in working on ECA’s, EASR’s, government reporting programs, and/or certification programs
    • Demonstrated experience working with modelling programs such as AERMOD, CadnaA, Aloha
    • Demonstrated ability with drawing packages, AutoCAD or similar
    • Experience and knowledge of Project Management methodologies and software
    • Proficiency in writing reports and conducting analysis with Microsoft office software
    • Comfortable with on-site work as well as office work
