  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is looking for a Senior Mining Environmental Consultant ready to take on new responsibilities within our dynamic mining environmental team. Located in Mississauga, Ontario, our team provides best in class, environmental regulatory consulting support for Ontario mining projects and operating mines. Our existing team includes consultants with 1 to 35 years of mining - environmental experience, and having diverse backgrounds of earth sciences, environmental science, ecology and engineering. Working collaboratively with other Wood specialists, we provide a one - stop shop for mining environment approvals in Ontario. Your role would be to lead preparation of documentation for Federal and Provincial, mining environmental assessments / environmental approvals. Our projects are challenging, but as part of our team you will continue to excel.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Extensive experience with the regulatory requirements and document needs for Ontario and Federal environmental approvals processes applicable to mining
    • Direct, hands - on experience preparing environmental assessments (Federal and Provincial) and approval / permit applications
    • Ability to take on responsibilities and succeed under pressure
    • Exceptional communicator (both written and verbal) in English (French an asset but not required)
    • Proven professional judgement and interpersonal skills
    • Strong work ethic and time management skills / ability to work to deadlines
    • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
    • Demonstrated Task / Project Management and Business Development skills are an asset
    • Periodic travel required (generally engagement - related)
    • Bachelors or Graduate degree(s) in an applicable field (e.g. earth sciences, environmental studies, engineering)
    • 10+ years’ experience in the regulatory aspects of mining environmental management, preferably within an environmental consulting firm or mining company
    • Eligible for Professional accreditation (P.Geo, P.Eng. etc.) an asset but not a requirement
    • Valid Ontario driver's license
