  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is searching for an experienced Senior Engineer, Torsional Vibration Analysis, to support our growing Vibration, Dynamics and Noise group. This role could be seated in either Calgary, AB or in Houston, TX.


    The Senior Engineer, Torsional Vibration Analysis, will be responsible for technical oversight of the torsional analysis team, and will assist in the growth of the business.  This is an opportunity to work in a global organization with an industry-leading position based on its niche range of services, and to be involved in projects both locally, and around the world.     • Perform torsional analysis studies (torsional analysis, mainly on reciprocating compressors with engine or motor drive) for a wide variety of customers. Client satisfaction is a core metric.
    • Manage technical compliance and quality activities, and support other business lines with technical expertise
    • Direct and manage Torsional Analysis team; maintain and build collaboration and act as technical mentor or coach as needed.
    • Utilize the available business tools to manage projects including schedules, budgets, variances, and other financial metrics
    • Monitor engineering contracts, subcontracts, change orders and other agreements
    • Commercial support including application engineering, limited role in proposal generation, client follow-up on targeted opportunities.
    • Prepare case studies, technical papers, attend industry conferences, and client training
    • Meet billable revenue goals
    • Stay abreast of competitors and industry trends
    • Identify new service/market opportunities and lead these new service lines
    • Identify and lead R&D efforts that will have a significant impact for the organization
    • Identify and lead process and work practice improvements


    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical); Master’s degree a strong asset
    • Must have Professional registration or equivalent (eg. APEGA in Alberta)
    • 10+ years of experience in torsional related engineering and machinery dynamics
    • Direct FEA experience, ideally related to forced response analysis
    • Minimum of 8 years consulting and project management experience
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, ensuring a professional and collaborative working environment
