  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with a proven track record to provide civil engineering design and technical support for the construction and modification of municipal infrastructure and to ensure projects are executed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Responsible for budget monitoring, planning, implementation and scheduling of the projects. Experience with municipal and transportation projects is essential.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Project Management, coordination and direction of project team activities and direction of project staff;
    • Provide senior leadership in the office
    • Provide civil engineering design and technical support for the construction and modification of municipal infrastructure
    • Complete preliminary and detailed design of engineering packages
    • Prepare proposals, study reports, engineering specifications, and contract documents
    • Review project documents and drawings for technical quality and accuracy
    • Manage multiple tasks in a multi-disciplinary team environment
    • Establish and maintain good working relationships and communication with discipline leads, project managers and clients
    • Support the infrastructure, geo-materials and environmental groups
    • Lead and mentor junior staff
    • Quickly become familiar with Wood’s core principles of providing high-caliber professional services in a fully integrated manner across our operating business units and divisions
    • Develop and promote engineering safety in design initiatives
    • Liaison with clients, regulators, sub-consultants and sub-contractors
    • Manage time and tasks within allotted timelines and budgets
    • Contribution to business development and client relationship management
    • Flexibility to travel
    • Other duties may be assigned to you from time to time

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Municipal Engineering; Masters level would be considered an asset
    • Registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador
    • 15 plus years of related Civil/Municipal Engineering experience
    • Effective communication both orally and in written form
    • Highly self-motivated and a self-starter
    • Ability to work in teams consisting of people with varying backgrounds
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer programs
    • Interdisciplinary knowledge is an asset
    • Valid driver’s license
