  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently looking for a Junior/Intermediate Electrical Engineer to support design and construction activities for a client in the aviation industry.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Execute Owner’s Engineer role acting as client’s representative for construction projects.
    • Review of contract documentation, engineering design (drawings and calculations), technical documents and schedules.
    • Familiar with airport electrical distribution and airfield lighting system.
    • Technical writing (client reports, equipment specifications, construction specifications)
    • Capable of reviewing and providing comments on electrical detailed design drawings such as:
      • Substation (electrical room) layouts
      • Underground and overhead MV distribution lines
      • Airfield lighting distribution
      • Schematics (protection & control, DC elementary, etc.)
      • Auxiliary systems layouts (equipment, cabling, cable tray, grounding, lighting, fire alarm etc.)
      • Single and three line diagrams
      • Interconnection wiring diagrams (equipment and panel wiring)
      • Communication block diagrams
    • Experience with electrical design utilizing AutoCAD tools.
    • Prepare calculations for sizing/selection of commonly used power and control systems (lighting, cabling, batteries, chargers, etc.)
    • Resolve design issues at site and support site commissioning work
    • Coordinate, interact and work collaboratively with other team members, vendors and the client at site.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • University degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent
    • Solid written and verbal English communication skills
    • Knowledge of construction methods and installation details related to electrical equipment and with codes and standards: OESC, CSA, IEEE, NBC, NFC, ICAO, Transport Canada Standards.
    • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organization skills to handle multiple projects and tasks.
    • Demonstrate leadership and business development skills.
    • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others with some supervision.
    • Must be willing to accept a long term project site assignment, working on client’s premises in the GTA.
