  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently recruiting an Hazardous Materials Technician / Technologist to join our team in London, Ontario. This is an exciting entry level opportunity for early career candidates looking to increase their skillsets and work on unique and exciting projects.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Experience in completing designated substances and hazardous materials field surveys and preparing management plans (i.e. lead, mercury, asbestos, PCBs, mould, etc.)
    • Experience with Phase Contrast Microscopy analysis for asbestos and other fibres (IRRST), would be an asset but not required
    • Completion of field reports and data entry
    • Assisting project managers in technical assignments including assessment and abatement programs, specification development, and reporting
    • Work off-hour shifts as required in order to accommodate assessment and inspection services required as part of evening, night and weekend work
    • Work on project sites within Ontario and occasional out of province including working in conjunction with other offices

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Eligible for Government of Canada Reliability Security Screening
    • 2-5 years of experience working in the field.
    • Asbestos and/or mould training and abatement experience
    • An understanding of Ontario legislation
    • Must be fit to wear a respirator and able to work at heights and in confined spaces with appropriate training
    • Strong workplace safety practices and training
    • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record
    • Good report writing skills and demonstrated word processing and computer skills
    • Strong people skills with an ability to work in a team environment
    • Self-motivated with good organizational skills, can take initiative, handle challenges, prioritize multiple tasks, and provide superior service to clients
