  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Rail/Civil Designer to join our team in Burlington, ON.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Prepare and oversee civil engineering design and drawings as part of the rail infrastructure team
    • Prepare and manage track and civil designs, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design phases
    • Prepare and manage 2D and 3D CAD design calculations, drawings and specifications
    • Able to work with LIDAR point clouds, mage, verify and control surveys and geographic data for design purposes
    • Lead design and coordination with project managers, engineers, other discipline designers and drafters within the team
    • Provide technical direction to junior designers, team member
    • Ensure compliance with laws and regulation in health and safety related to design
    • Ensure that the projects' needs are met in a timely and effective manner

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Degree in Civil Engineering considered assets
    • Eligible or registered Professional Engineer with PEO considered assets
    • Must have 10+ years of related professional experience in design
    • Experience in AutoCAD/MicroStation and 3D CAD using Civil3D and/or InRoads design software is a must
    • Experience in civil infrastructure, DTM surfaces, alignment, grading and drainage design would be an asset
    • Experience in the use and application of railway industry standards
    • Experience in the preparation of design drawings and tender documents
    • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to switch between tasks and assignments as required
