    Our Opportunity:

    As a member of the Instrumentation & Data Solutions group, you will be assisting team members with operation of oceanographic and terrestrial data acquisition networks. Office related activities can include software development, design & integration of measurement & control systems, system operational checks, remote troubleshooting of monitoring systems, development of work instructions, schematics, flow diagrams and checklists to supplement our quality program.  Field activities include factory acceptance testing, system commissioning, and troubleshooting in support of maintenance deliverables which requires a high level of health, safety, and environmental awareness that meets or exceeds industry standards.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for day to day project support and tasks assigned by the Group Manager or Senior Technicians
    • Working within a team of peers to achieve project deliverables and milestones
    • Participate and lead monitoring programs including system design, integration, setup, construction, deployment, servicing, and recovery
    • Oversee helpdesk and support system with routine and non-routine maintenance activities
    • Daily system checks and troubleshooting for both marine and terrestrial monitoring applications and quality control of data collected from measurement campaigns
    • Infrastructure assessment including development and execution of an IoT migration plan
    • Ensure that quality and safety standards are maintained which includes development of quality processes, schematics, flow diagrams, work instructions, and completion of corporate safety documentation as required

    Skills / Qualifications


    • Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Clear focus on high quality and safety with proven organizational and analytical skills
    • Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, strong computer skills, a demonstrated commitment to personal development, and willingness to provide after-hours consultation
    • Ability to function effectively in a team environment and working outdoors when required
    • Ability to communicate reliably and work extended hours on occasions when required
    • Must have clean driving license
    • Must be able to pass routine drug and alcohol testing, medicals, and physicals as required to obtain necessary certifications to perform outlined job responsibilities

    Specific Job Skills:

    • Degree in Computer, Electronics or Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years of experience or Electrical/Electronic Technologist diploma with equivalent experience
    • Software development using C, C#, Bash, JavaScript languages within a Windows or Linux environment.
    • Wired and wireless networking concepts and principles including knowledge of standardized communication protocols such as TCP, IP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, MODBUS, etc. and securing of networked devices
    • Familiarity with JIRA, Amazon AWS, MQTT protocol, oceanographic and meteorological systems is a definite asset
