  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood in Calgary is looking to add an Intermediate Project Engineer to a program of projects for SAGD facilities. The projects include brownfield SAGD CPF projects and SAGD wellpad projects.

     

    The current opportunity is on a group of projects for the design and fabrication of SAGD well pad modules.  Multiple well pad projects are currently in progress at varied stages of completion from design validation to construction support.

     

    Responsibilities for a project engineer vary depending on the stage and size of the project but typically involve a combination of coordinating the work of the disciplines, leading multidiscipline problem-solving activities and supporting the project manager in managing the project to deliver on time and on budget.

     

    On the current projects, key responsibilities will involve working with procurement, monitoring the progress of fabrication, responding to questions from fabricators and constructors, as well as performing walk-downs of modules in the fabrication yard.

     

    General Responsibilities:

    • Support the preparation and implementation of effective project execution plans & procedures
    • Monitor engineering design compliance to the Design Basis
    • Manage a defined project scope to schedule and budget
    • Coordinate cross discipline input into procurement and contract technical packages assigned to their area
    • Monitor design evolution from basic engineering to detail engineering for documents and drawings and mitigate interdisciplinary conflicts
    • Review discipline progress and performance on a biweekly basis with the area discipline leads and develop action plans with project discipline leads when required
    • Develop and maintain the action log that shows decisions and information required to maintain the area schedule
    • Manage the change process for the assigned work scope
    • Develop effective relationships with the client’s project members

    Skills / Qualifications

    • University degree in engineering
    • 8 or more years’ experience on oil and gas projects with preference given to experience in SAGD related projects
    • Detailed engineering and construction experience
    • Experience in modularization and construction preferred
    • Experience in materials procurement, bidding and supporting construction activities
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to build and maintain effective client relationships
