  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Branch Manager. Reporting to the South Central Office Manager, the Branch Manager of the Geotechnical, Environmental and Materials (GEM) groups located in the Burlington office will be responsible for operational management and long-term development of the team, clients and related business development. We are seeking an individual with a strong operational background and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to thrive in a dynamic, challenging environment, and provide sound leadership. They will be a key player in the organization and have input in the overall direction of the GEM service groups in the Burlington office as well as the direction of the business in South Central Region as a whole.


    The successful candidate will oversee the development and monitoring of financial plans, provide strategic direction for the business, coordinate local people & organization and health and safety functions with corporate personnel, and provide leadership in business development efforts.


    The position will include execution of project-related work, as well as business management responsibilities. Project-related responsibilities will include project management, senior review, and quality assurance of work products developed by the technical staff.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Maintain and foster a strong Health and Safety culture; Provide Safety Leadership
    • Manage recruitment needs and potential hiring targets as warranted by existing and expected workload, and subsequently lead the implementation of hiring in the Regina and Saskatchewan market
    • Lead a multi-disciplinary team including geotechnical, environmental and materials testing staff
    • Actively promote an integrated team approach with the Burlington Infrastructure, London, Cambridge and Thorold staff to facilitate effective communication and resource sharing throughout the region
    • Workload management for Office staff (manage utilization and non-chargeable time)
    • Branch Management responsible for, but not limited to:
      • Business planning
      • Staff oversight and management
      • Input into Staff remuneration
      • Client relationships
      • Business growth
    • Maintain consistent Wood branding
    • Mentor and support staff, which includes completing and documenting Personal Development Reviews (PDRs) for eligible staff in the office
    • Managing quality within the office in compliance with Wood standards and Quality Management practices as appropriate
    • Liaise with and promote Wood’s capabilities to clients and regulatory authorities
    • Maintain a leadership role in the area of one’s technical competence

    Skills / Qualifications

    • 10+ years of relevant experience in the consulting sector
    • Education in the technical field of Environmental, Geotechnical, Infrastructure or Materials (asphalt, soils, concrete)
    • Demonstrated strong understanding of the Burlington market
    • Demonstrated ability to manage operations and develop a team
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain client relationships
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, management and leadership qualities
    • Project management experience in a technical consulting environment
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
