  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Location: Voisey's Bay Mine Site, Labrador

     

    Wood is currently recruiting for two Major Shutdown Planner / Schedulers to work on a major shutdown at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site.  Schedule will be 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site, reporting to the senior planner.  These two positions will start immediately and continue until the end of August 2019.

     

    Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

    • Delivering planning and scheduling services in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner, in support of a major maintenance shutdown in the summer of 2019.
    • Maintaining planning control structures in alignment with the approved project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
    • Development of detailed execution schedule for maintenance and capital activities in Primavera or MS Project.
    • Developing, updating, and maintaining plans to Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Clients.
    • Analyzing and communicating schedule impacts of changes.
    • Monitoring overall project progress status, achievement of major milestones, and project performance in relation to the baseline.
    • Providing recommendations in order to facilitate strategic decisions and identify critical path within the plan, providing corrective action to mitigate potential risks within the schedule.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project planning and scheduling
    • Experience in Mining is preferred but not essential
    • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
    • A Technical Diploma or an Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. Engineers must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
    • Excellent computer skills with emphasis on Primavera P6, MS Project and MS Excel
    • Previous SAP experience is an asset
    • Excellent understanding of planning principles and techniques and good understanding of project change control.
    • An equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved will be considered.
