    Wood Environmental & Infrastructure Solutions currently has an opportunity available in Burlington, Ontario for a Senior Utilities Engineer to administer and coordinate public and private utilities for municipal water and wastewater related to Metrolinx, rail, and other projects throughout Concept, Preliminary Design and Final Design phases.


    We are seeking a motivated candidate who combines strong technical skills with a keen interest in team leadership. The successful candidate will have experience in a variety of urban infrastructure projects including, but not limited to, municipal utilities (storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water distribution), and will have demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility over their career.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Communicate and work with other project team members
    • Performs analyses for complex engineering and environmental projects
    • Demonstrates competency in a combination of areas including field inspection, and project management
    • Client liaison and relationship management
    • Responsible for making correct interpretations of findings and recognizes and identifies inconsistent or inappropriate results; knows how and when to apply standard practices and techniques to unusual situations; knows when to consult with project manager and/or other appropriate more senior-level technical professional regarding how to resolve a problem, respond to a question or take an action that is appropriate
    • Support project execution and ensure project quality management
    • Manage and deliver complex municipal engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams through pursuit, planning, design, and construction phases
    • Maintain technical proficiency, including participation in professional practice groups and organizations
    • Participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work
    • When required, work collaboratively with other departments and Wood offices on project related work
    • Other duties as assigned

    Skills / Qualifications

    • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering; M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Civil / Environmental Engineering
    • 15 to 20+ years’ experience in utility design and coordination for municipal, Metrolinx and rail projects within engineering consulting environment
    • Currently registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral
    • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Municipal market
    • The ability to lead teams and mentor younger staff
    • A deep understanding of the business of consulting engineering
    • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
